Teens Go Crazy on Don't Knock the Rock

The year was 1956 and one of the hottest movies showing at the drive-in was Don't Knock the Rock. This wild movie stands out from a bunch of other teen comedies and romances of the time because the top-billed performers for the movie are actually Bill Haley and his band. As you can guess, this movie is all about the music.

In a plot that will have you thinking of FootlooseDon't Knock the Rock is about a musician shaking up a town that has outlawed rock and roll shows and dancing. One of the key points in the movie is the dancing sequence that shows the band performing as a bunch of teens dance along.

The 1950s were definitely the golden age of rock and roll! Instead of just standing there nodding their heads, the crowd gets really into the music. Each person grabs a partner and starts enthusiastically dancing in some of the hottest moves of the time.

People get so excited that some of the groups in the back accidentally bump into each other. At one point, you can even see a girl slip and fall. However, everyone's so busy having fun that they don't let a few little slip ups get in the way of their dancing.

An especially adorable part of this video is the way each couple gets a turn to showcase their dance moves. As they step into the center of the dance floor, they get into especially enthusiastic options like lifts, crazy spinning, and fancy footwork.

All of these dances are so athletic that you look like you would get an incredible workout from giving it a shot. However, most of the incredibly athletic people in this video manage to avoid breaking a sweat and keep a big grin on their face the whole time. Want to see it for yourself?
