Luke Perry, who suffered from a massive stroke, was one of the toughest losses to handle when news first broke. Perry was only 52-years-old when he passed away in March reports E! News. Tributes poured in from around the country for the 80s actor who rose to popularity on the famed Beverly Hills, 90210.

Perry gained an entirely new generation of adoring fans for his role in Riverdale as Archie Andrew's dad. The actor was still filming in this role up until the point of his passing. Perry was well-liked throughout Hollywood and in other areas. The public was also shocked at how young the actor was at the time of his death.

The public also suffered the loss of working performers such as Valerie Harper and Diahann Carroll. Harper was a popular sitcom star who stole the hearts of audiences around the country for her roles as Rhoda Morgenstern on the Mary Tyler Moor Show as well as its spinoff. She had a prolific, five-decade career.

Carroll made history in Julia as "the first African American woman" starring in her own TV show. She also starred in the first love story between an interracial couple on Broadway, states The Hollywood Reporter. Carol Channing, a Broadway legend also passed away.

Three major icons in their own fields also died earlier this year. Toni Morrison, a famed Nobel Laureate and novelist, Gloria Vanderbilt, a fashion designer, and Peter Fonda, an actor, all tragically passed away.

The public also suffered the loss of young talent who died far too early. 33-year-old hip-hop artist Nipsey Hussle, 20-year-old actor Cameron Boyce, and 25-year-old Korean pop star Sulli all passed away as well.
