One of the most incredible animal encounters was captured recently on the coast of Crimea’s Black Sea when a pet dog encountered a rare sight on the beach - a dolphin. The encounter was recorded on a smartphone by the dog's owner Anastasia Vinnikova.

The woman was recording her dog Patrick playing on the surf when she noticed that something had her dog's attention. She was shocked to see a dolphin right up near the sand playing with her dog.

The dolphin began to play a game with the dog while the rest of the dolphin pod swam around near the coast. The dog, Patrick, would jump around the water trying to "catch" the dolphin who swam around his new four-legged friend in an improved game of tag. This encounter would last for well over a minute before the dolphin rejoined the pod. The entire video was captured by Miss Vinnikova against the serene sunset of the Black Sea.

When Miss Vinnikova posted the now widely shared video on Instagram, she talked about how she always wanted to touch a dolphin. However, after the encounter, her dog has been able to touch a dolphin while she has yet to enjoy that experience.

Since Miss Vinnikova has shared the post on her Instagram account, it has been viewed by millions of people and liked by hundreds of thousands of people. Currently, the video has generated thousands of universally positive comments.

What may surprise most people is that dolphins are one of the most intelligent mammals on the planet. In fact, Dolphins have been trained to complete simple tasks much like dogs. Therefore it would make sense that dogs and dolphins would have an appreciation for each other.

So how smart are dolphins exactly? Well, the United States military has used dolphins to help detect anti-boat mines in the sea. Also, there was a well-documented case of dolphins outsmarting humans! In this case, dolphins were rewarded one fish for every piece of debris that they collected at a pool in Seaworld. The clever dolphins then took the paper and stick it into the pool's filter, ripping off small pieces in exchange for fish. In this case, the dolphin was able to get three or four fish from one found piece of paper!

You could search up "dog meets dolphin" on Youtube and find a number of encounters of these two animals having fun. However, it is rare that a dolphin comes close to the edge of a beach. In all instances, both dogs and dolphins get along well with each other. Though, in many instances, it seems as though the human filming both animals playing seems to be having the most fun of all.
