When it comes to going above and beyond the call of duty, Cami Loritz did just that.

The nurse from Denmark, Wisconsin knew that she was signing on to be a compassionate and knowledgeable caregiver when she decided to pursue her career path. What she did not know is that she would end up directly saving a life with her selfless sacrifice. Loritz is a nurse in the intensive care unit of Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

Loritz's life changed drastically in the spring of 2019 when patient Brayden Auten was brought in for examination after his mother got a call from the school nurse saying that the boy was not feeling well. Auten was soon diagnosed with liver failure at the hands of a virus invading the organ.

According to the Inside Edition, the virus attacked quickly and the Auten family soon learned that their precious boy would need a transplant. The family reached out on social media making a plea to find a liver for their rapidly deteriorating boy. As his nurse, Loritz had a front-row seat to the suffering and anguish of the family.

The impact was so great that she decided to take matters into her own hands and see if she would be a viable candidate to donate part of her liver to Auten. In May, the transplant was complete and the two are both thriving today. The Auten family has set up a GoFundMe account to help raise money for the medical costs. In addition, they are incredibly thankful to Loritz for saving their boy's life.

The pair recently celebrated the success of the transplant with a photoshoot. You simply have to check out these adorable photos.

After you have looked at the pictures, be sure to spread the story to everyone that you know. The sacrifice of Lortiz deserves to be honored.
