"I Love Her So Much" As Simon Hits The Golden Buzzer For One Of His Favorite Performers Of All Time

Kechi Okwuchi is a phenomenal woman. At the age of 16, she survived a horrific plane crash in 2005 that killed 107 people. Kechi Okwuchi is a survivor.

Despite sustaining third-degree burns all over her body and going through more than 100 reconstructive surgeries, she didn’t let it keep her down. 

Kechi Okwuchi went to college and graduated with honors.

She loved singing and found music to be the best therapy to cope with the traumatic event she experienced.

Okwuchi decided people needed to hear her story and hear her sing.

She appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2017 to do just that.

She went on to become a finalist, but Simon Cowell revealed later that he always wished he had given her the highest esteem on the show, the coveted Golden Buzzer.

America’s Got Talent wasn’t the end of this brave woman’s story. She returned to T.V. and the big stage for America’s Got Talent: The Champions. She walked on the stage with a sense of confidence and purpose that had been hiding in her previous performances.

Okwuchi realized this was the opportunity of a lifetime and she needed to follow her dreams. She knows she didn’t win last time, but she realized that she needed to discover her voice and find her passion.

She wanted to prove to the judges that she was a champion. Mel B. and Howie Mendel loved her performance of “You are the Reason.”

However, everyone who watches the show knows it is down to Simon Cowell’s vote. To live her dream, Okwuchi needed the support of the notoriously difficult judge. While she waited nervously for him to reveal his response to her performance, she wondered, “could this be enough?”

She worried that she had messed up her performance in some way or that she had been slightly off key.

When Cowell responded and told her that he didn’t like her performance much, everyone in the room felt the energy drop. This criticism was absolutely undeserved! Okwuchi was a star and everyone knew it except Simon Cowell! The crowd started booing with their disapproval of Cowell’s unfair judgment. Kechi looked defeated as she tried to accept the harsh criticism.

Luckily, the difficult judge hit the Golden Buzzer. He hadn’t liked the performance; he loved it!

Everyone gave Okwuchi a standing ovation while she cried tears of joy!
