“I Don’t Ever Want to Be Away From Her” — Bruce Willis Waited 54 Years For The Love Of His Life

Hollywood heartthrob Bruce Willis might be more recognized for his action roles in movies, but the actor has a little known soft side too — and that’s for his wife, Emma Hemming.

Willis married Hemming in 2009, and the two have been inseparable since.

Before meeting Hemming, Willis married to fellow actor Demi Moore in 1987. The pair had three children together: Rumer Glenn, Scout LaRue, and Tallulah Belle.

Although the couple was regarded as a Hollywood powerhouse at the time, the marriage was not working out behind closed doors. They eventually divorced in 2000. Despite this, the two actors remain friends and continue to value each other as co-parents.

Following their divorce, Willis got engaged to Brooke Burns in 2004. After 10 months together, the couple called it quits and never married.

For Willis, single life was difficult. Speaking to W magazine in 2009, the actor revealed he was in a “dark place.”

“I spent the last 10 years single and, for the most part, unhappy. In a dark place,” he said at the time. “I never thought that being with someone else was the answer. I would say, 'I'm alone, but I'm not lonely.'”

That all changed when he met Emma Hemming. According to Willis, it only took one date for the two to fall madly in love with each other.

“We went on one date, on the Friday before Emma was getting ready to move back to New York, and then we fell mad crazy in love,” He revealed.

“When you think about where are you going to find that big love of your life, you seldom think it’s someone you already know. You think it’s someone you’re yet to meet.”

Willis and Hemming tied the knot in 2009, and have since welcomed two daughters: Evelyn and Mabel. A long way from his unhappy time alone, the Die Hard actor now has five daughters, a loving wife, and his friend Moore. The big blended family get along well and even regularly take photos together for social media.

Always the gentleman, Willis says he’s grateful to be surrounded by all the wonderful women in his life.

“I worship women and I always felt safer when I am around them,” the actor said in honor of Women’s day.

Years later, Hemming and Willis are still going strong. In fact, in 2019, for their 10 year anniversary, the couple decided to say “I do” again in front of their family — including Willis’ ex, Demi Moore.

“She welcomed me into her family like I welcomed her into ours,” Heming told Us magazine of Moore being there.

“Again, I have so much respect for her," she added. "I have so much respect for how Bruce and Demi worked through their divorce to be able to put their children first. I learned so much from that and grew so much from watching that. It was important for her to be there. She was at our first wedding. I loved having her there again. I wouldn’t do it without her.”

Bruce Willis is definitely proof that when it comes to finding ‘the one,’ age is nothing but a number, having met Hemming at the age of 54.

"I don’t want to be away from Emma at all," the doting husband told Closer in 2017. "It’s the most singular relationship I’ve ever had in my life."
