It is hard for people to be separated from their loved ones at this challenging time. People across the world are being kept apart from their nearest and dearest due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This couple from Minnesota show that love knows no boundaries, as Jerry Lindell surprised his wife, Beverley, on her 84th birthday by visiting her after they had been separated because of the virus.

Jerry had been receiving rehab at Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield, Minnesota, following a short stay in hospital. Beverley's daughter, Loriee, told KARE:

“The bus would pick her up in the mornings and bring her to the nursing home...She was pretty much there all afternoon.”

Sadly, while Jerry was staying there the coronavirus started spreading rapidly around the country which led the care home to have to go into lockdown. This meant not allowing any visitors in to protect vulnerable residents.

Beverley felt devastated at not being able to visit her husband. It was even more difficult for the childhood sweethearts, as it was the longest they had ever been separated since they met when they were both 18 years old, reports KARE.

However, two weeks ago Jerry was released from the facility and decided he would surprise his wife on her 84th birthday. The couple’s daughter was an accomplice in setting up the surprise. She drove Jerry to his house without anyone knowing.

When Beverley saw Jerry walk through the door she was so shocked! They were both overwhelmed and emotional when they saw each other. A was all beautifully captured on camera.

“I can’t hug you!”

Beverley called out. But Jerry reassured his wife that it was all ok. When they did lovingly embrace Beverly said:

"I won't let him go. He's mine to keep."

Jerry gave his wife a birthday present she will never forget!
