Husband Expects Wife To Pack His Bag Despite Her Saying She Won’t, He Misses His Flight And Blames Her

While there are many benefits to being married, there are typically some challenges that come along the way. It can be difficult to never really have alone time as you’re always with someone else, and life gets harder when you throw in a house and kids to care for, too. Even though marriage is commonly full of love and support from both people in the relationship, it’s not always easy.
A wife took to Reddit on Sept. 29, 2021, to ask users for their advice about a marital conflict that she was having with her husband. Her husband is the kind of guy who expects other people to constantly do everything for him, such as packing his bag for a business trip. He asked his wife if she could do this task for him, but she declined since she had a lot of work to get done around the house and still needed to help their children with schoolwork.
The husband simply left for the day, assuming she would eventually pack for him, but she never did. Needless to say, when he got home he was met with this unfortunate surprise and had to rush to pack all of his belongings in time to get to the airport. His efforts were to no avail, and he missed his flight, causing him to look extremely unprofessional. He was furious, blaming his wife for the unfortunate events, and the two have continued to argue over who was wrong in the situation. Reddit users have chimed in, offering their take on the issue.
She Refused To Pack His Bags

At the beginning of her Reddit post, the original poster (OP) explained that her husband travels for work every few months. “He’s irresponsible with time and counts on others sto do stuff for him using the ‘I’m tired’ excuse,” she said. “He’s the breadwinner by the way.” Her husband had a business trip coming up, and when the day he was supposed to leave finally arrived, he still hadn’t packed his bags. The OP was shocked, only to find out that he had spent the entire night before playing video games.
The OP explained, “I asked why can’t he pack now and he replied ‘I gotta go catch up with the boys before I leave the country.’” She didn’t like his excuse and told him “no,” as she had a laundry list of tasks to take care of around the house, including doing the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, cooking for their children, helping the kids with their homework and more.
The OP suggested that her husband stay home and pack his own bag, but he wasn’t too thrilled about her idea and really wanted to go visit his friends one last time before he left. “He begged but I said no,” the OP said. “He then suddenly went inside the bedroom (I thought he was packing??), grabbed his phone, keys and jacket and rushed out. I just went about my day.”
The OP’s husband was gone until 6 p.m. that day and immediately began panicking once he got home and asked the OP why she hadn’t packed for him. “I told him she should ask himself since he stayed gone for hours,” she said. At no point did she agree to pack his bags.

The OP’s husband was livid and began frantically packing. He finally finished and left for the airport. Unfortunately, the OP’s husband didn’t make it in time, and he missed his flight but claimed it wasn’t his fault. Since he missed the one the company paid for, his choice was to either pay for a flight himself or skip the trip altogether.
When he got home, he told the OP it was her fault for making him miss the flight and making him look unreliable and unprofessional. The OP explained, “I responded that he shouldn’t have hung out with his buddies literally hours before his flight but he said he believed this was done spitefully to get him to sit home with me. I was shocked.” Her husband quickly left to go hang out with his friends again following their fight.
The OP wondered if she should have just packed her husband’s bag, but Reddit users told her she handled the situation correctly. One user said, “You should be packing his bags now. Tell him he can come home once he starts acting like an adult and showing you some respect.” Another user agreed, saying, “He’s treating OP like his maid/mother rather than partner. What grown up needs their suitcase packed by someone else?”
Rather than spend any time with his wife and kids, the OP’s husband decided to spend the day with his friends and ditch his responsibilities, only to blame his wife in the long run, Redditors say. Even though it would have been fairly simple for the OP to pack her partner’s bags, Redditors seem to agree that it wasn’t her responsibility.
