Hundreds Of Grieving Strangers Attend WWII Hero’s Funeral After He Passes Away All Alone

One woman went out of her way to ensure that an elderly man wouldn't be alone on his final day on Earth. Despite being a member of one of the bravest and selfless generations, this man faced an empty funeral. If it weren't for the efforts and care of one person, his history would have been forgotten forever. This is the inspiring story of how one woman made a difference in the life of a man who didn't have many days left to live.

Beth Regan was volunteering at the local nursing home when she first met Bob Graham and his wife. Rosie Graham, Bob's long-term partner, resided at the nursing home because of her declining health. Bob, who served in the second World War, was unable to care for his wife alone.

Beth was inspired by the affection and devotion that Bob offered to his wife. Unfortunately, his wife ended up passing away a few years ago. After her death, Bob didn't have any relatives that were alive. The couple had been married for nearly six decades.

Beth often talked with Bob during his regular visits. She eventually learned about his brave service in World War II. He had served in the Marine Corps during this time.

More specifically, Bob was a Marine Raider who fought in Bougainville and Guadalcanal for an elite unit. Bob shared some of his experiences from the war with Beth. She was equally inspired by the man's bravery and affection to his wife.

Tragically, Bob passed away earlier this year at 97-years-old. Beth was devastated after hearing about his death. She had come to know the man as more than a relative of a patient.

The two had developed a special bond. After his passing, Beth knew that something special had to be done to commemorate his special life.

She posted his story on Reddit and requested that users show their respect to the fallen soldier. While she received some nice replies to the post, Beth couldn't have guessed what would happen next.

Over a hundred strangers showed up to Bob's funeral at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in the small town of Westchester County, New York.

Several marines, other veterans, and a number of individuals who were touched by Bob's story came to pay their respects. Towards the end of the funeral, there was only room to stand.
