Huge Dog Won’t Move From Bed Even For A Treat, But Takes Off Running When Owner Says ‘Squirrel’

Dogs can be quite the characters in our lives. They can make us laugh more than the best comedians can with their woofing and strange behaviors. I bet if they could speak English, the laughs would never end (think about how much fun parrots are).

In fact, dogs are so interesting that they are often portrayed as principle characters in movies--the fact that a non-human, non-speaking animal can carry us through an entire two-hour story speaks volumes about their character.

Take the movie "Up" for instance. It's an animated Pixar movie and features a dog named Dug. Dug wears a collar that allows him to speak English but he still has basic dog instincts--at the sound of the word "Squirrel" Dug stops what he's doing and is instantly at attention.

It's quite hilarious how easy going he is and then the sound of that one word gets him into action...and this leads us to a real-life Dug.

The real-life Dug's name is Max. Max is a stubborn but completely lovable golden retriever. If you have a dog of your own, you've probably experienced their stubbornness at times but Max's stubbornness takes first place. You see, Max found a very comfortable place in his home that he just didn't want to give up. No big deal right? Well, his human mom didn't think so because the comfy spot was her mattress!

Human mom posted the hilarious clip of her trying to lovingly taunt him and bribe him off of the mattress. She starts by calling him and telling him to "come" to her with no success. She then starts calling him a big baby. The name calling doesn't phase him and he just lays there, not moving a muscle.

Surely the next trick would work. Human mom yells out "treat" and Max gets a twinkle in his eye for just a split second before deciding that the mattress was just way more enticing. Human mom tugs at his paw but Max still doesn't move a muscle.

Human mom has one last trick up her sleeve. In an excited, high pitched voice she yells out, "squirrel!" Before human mom can even finish the word, Max has sprung into action, jumped off the mattress and darted out of the door. They say art imitates life. This seems to be the case with Dug and Max, two dogs who loses inhibition at the mere sound of the word "squirrel". Adorable.

Do you think that Max's stubbornness is adorable? We'd love to hear your opinions in the comments and don't forget to pass this along to all the dog-lovers you know!
