How To Correctly Play UNO, Because Chances Are You’re Playing It Wrong

Nov 05, 2018 by apost team

A fun game that you've probably played since you were younger is UNO. It seems easy enough to grasp because all you have to do is put down a card that you have that matches the number or color of the one that is on the table. However, there are a few rules that you've probably ignored or that you don't even know about, which means that you've been playing the game incorrectly the entire time.

There are a few fun moments while playing the game, such as making someone draw two cards or changing the color of the card that someone has to put down. There's also a few nail-biting moments, such as when you're waiting to catch someone who doesn't say "UNO" when there is only one card left.

The game has been around since 1971. K-Mart started selling the card game in 1978, and people seemed to start paying attention to it more often, enjoying the game after dinner or on the weekends while with family and friends. There have been about 100 million decks of the card game sold in various stores since it was released.

Many people who play UNO think that it's similar to Crazy Eights because you have to match a card that you have to one that is on the table. While playing Crazy Eights, you win if you get rid of all of your cards first.

There are also points given to those who have cards left in their hand or if they have an eight left. If you look on the Mattel website, you might read that you've been playing UNO wrong since you started playing.

When you play UNO, you're supposed to keep score. You get points for the cards that opponents still have after you win the game. There are specific point values associated with each type of card so that you can complete the scoring properly.

The number cards are scored based on their value. An anniversary card is 100 points, Reverse and Skip are 20 points, and Wild cards are 50 points.

The person who shouts "UNO" and ends up with no cards left is usually the winner, but the details on the website suggest that the winner is the person who reaches 500 points first.

Sometimes, you might forget to say "UNO" if you only have one card left, but if you say the word before putting your last card on the pile, you don't have to pick up four cards. If the next player has already started a turn, you can't catch someone for not declaring that there is only one card left.

When the DRAW pile is gone, you can reshuffle the cards if no one has won the game yet. The person who is the first one without cards gets to add up all of the points from everyone's hands.

As each game progresses, the person who gets to 500 points is the real winner of the game instead of the one who says "UNO" before everyone else and gets rid of their cards first. Check out the video to see everything:
