How Meghan Markle's Mother Is Being A Loving Grandma To Baby Archie

Although Meghan Markle’s father is yet to meet Prince Archie, grandma Doria Ragland is an immense presence in the three-month-old’s life.

Ragland has reportedly been by the Duchess’ side as she navigates her newfound motherhood and royal life in the United Kingdom.

The 62-year-old raised Markle as a single mother, a fact that likely contributed to the close relationship the two have. Ragland was spotted at the royal wedding when her daughter wed Prince Harry as well as Prince Archie’s christening earlier this summer.

Before shutting it down, Markle wrote extensively about her adoration for her mother on her blog ‘The Tig.’

“Dreadlocks. Nose ring. Yoga instructor,” Markle wrote in 2014, as per cheatsheet.com. “Social worker. Free Spirit. Lover of potato chips & lemon tarts. And if the DJ cues Al Green’s soul classic ‘Call Me’, just forget it.”

For mother’s day, the Duchess wrote:

“She was showing me how to be a daughter, not just in that moment, but for when I became that grown woman.”

When the grandmother caught wind last year that her daughter was with child, Entertainment Tonight obtained a sweet statement from her. “Ms. Ragland is very happy about this lovely news, and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”

It’s a long-running tradition for women in the royal family to guide new mothers when they birth their first child. Naturally, Ragland was sure to be present when it was time for Markle to give birth. The Duke and Duchess even built a dedicated room to Ragland in their residence, Frogmore Cottage, for her to stay in when she visits.

And in true Meghan Markle fashion, royal tradition was broken when Ragland accompanied Markle and Prince Harry as they presented Prince Archie to the Queen for the very first time.

Just like Ragland got her daughter into yoga from an early age, the yoga instructor practiced ‘baby yoga’ with the infant Prince, as per Insider. She is clearly the grandmother little Archie needs!
