Hours Before Brain Surgery, Boy Asks Grandpa To Join Him In Late-Night Dance At Supermarket

Jun 15, 2019 by apost team

A little boy facing brain surgery had one request. He wanted to go dancing down the supermarket aisles with his grandpa!

A five-year-old boy from Wisconsin named Kyu San Juan is dealing with a severe abnormality that's affecting his ability to live a normal life. Back in 2017, Kyu suffered a severe seizure that left him incapacitated. Doctors found out the boy was dealing with cerebral arteriovenous malformation. This condition happens when there is an abnormal connection between the veins and arteries in the brain.

Fast forward to June 2019: Kyu was scheduled for his second brain surgery. The night before he was actually due to go, Kyu decided on his one and only pre-surgery request.

He told his mom, Rasami, that he wanted to go dancing in the local supermarket and take his grandfather along for fun.

Mom decided her son could have his wish. She got Kyu and his grandfather into the car and drove them to the local Festival Foods. In a Facebook post, she describes how the party started:

Grandpa: Do you guys need to buy something?
Kyu: No grandpa, we dance here in the groceries store.
Grandpa: Here? People are going to think we're crazy!
Kyu: People? What people?
Grandpa: I thought we were going to a party or a club.
*ME laughing hysterically*
Kyu: Grandpa, Use your imagination. You can dance anywhere!

The wonderful dancing session aside, there's actually more good news: Kyu is doing better than anticipated after surgery, according to his mom. The great dancing session Kyu had the night before definitely didn't hurt, maybe it even helped a little.

Watch the video below to see the cool moves Kyu and Grandpa were doing down the frozen food aisle.

Now that's style – and a cool grandfather to boot!
