When a teenager thought that she was too sick to attend homecoming, her nurses came to her rescue and made sure that she had a night that she would remember.

McKendalyn Martinez wanted more than ever to go to her school's homecoming dance because it was one of the last dances that she would attend at her school since she was a senior. She has cystic fibrosis and has spent many weeks in a hospital room instead of enjoying her time with her friends at school.

McKendalyn has to endure treatments every day to try to keep the symptoms of the disease at a minimum. She has spent more time away from school throughout the course of several years than she has in a classroom.

When she learned that she had been nominated for her school's homecoming court, McKendalyn was surprised and knew that she had to do everything possible to get to the event.

Since she had been in a hospital room in a while, she thought that it would be alright to attend the dance and the festivities.

Unfortunately, McKendalyn started to feel dizzy about a week before homecoming. She couldn't eat. She was back in a hospital room, after all, thinking that she would miss homecoming.

The nurses at Arkansas Children's Hospital pulled off a surprise that meant the world to McKendalyn. They helped her get dressed and gave her the night of her life.
