Hope For Paws Rescues Neglected Dog Found Surviving Alone In Mountains

When you've been running an animal rescue in Los Angeles for years, after a while you begin to feel like you've seen it all.

Neglected animals and cases of animal abuse happen so often it can be incredibly heartbreaking to see when you vow to protect them and try to undo the damage that so many irresponsible owners have done.

Eldad Hagar runs the rescue Hope For Paws in Los Angeles and has gone through the struggles of seeing these very sad cases of animal abuse and neglect.

But what keeps Hagar going are the beautiful stories of survival. Animals are remarkable and it is so amazing to see them rise above their challenges and the consequences of abuse, making it to a life where they can finally have love and peace.

It can be so incredible to see tiny kittens and puppies who fight for their lives to show such resilience. And animals who have never been shown love and develop behavior difficulties, learn to love and accept love.

Around Christmas 2018, Hagar got a phone call about a dog that was spotted in a mountain area. The dog was living alone and was a small breed.

The area was known to be filled with predatory animals, such as coyotes, who may find the small dog an opportunity for an easy meal.

Hagar quickly packed up his bag and set off to this mountain area. He found the pup lying alone on an old rug, where someone had left water.

The puppy looked miserable and was clearly in bad shape. It may have been difficult for many people to get near her, but Hagar has a special ability to gain dogs' trust.

With patience, he was softly patting her head and gently giving her a handful of food. He stated later that he honestly didn't know how she was still alive.

After he placed a leash on her and named her Fergie, he took her with him.

While the organization took care of her, they tried to figure out if she was a missing dog. She stayed at the hospital while they cleaned her up and helped her regain her strength.

She is now living at The Forgotten Dog Foundation, where she is awaiting adoption from a loving family.

What do you think of this inspiring story? Help Fergie's story spread so that she, and other dogs like her, can find a new home.
