Sometimes, we all need to be reminded about the fellow humanity of those nearest to us. Jeremy Thomas, a Detroit Police Officer, has always been committed to being helpful and self-sacrificing for those in need of help.

When he swore his vow to protect and serve, it seems that he really meant it. Originally, Thomas was a volunteer firefighter and decided to take his skillsets into the local law offices two years later.

It was a dreary, slightly damp and rainy day when Thomas noticed an older woman and her daughter handing out toiletries to a homeless man in Comerica Park. The bag contained shaving cream, water, a razor, and small snacks like granola bars.

Shortly after, the homeless man struggled to use dirty rainwater from a spout to try and shave in the park. Cold, shaking, and coated in shaving cream, the man was clearly having a hard time trying to get a good shave.

Thomas approached and the homeless man immediately leapt back, too used to being told to leave public areas. He assured Officer Thomas that he would leave the park.

Immediately, Thomas did the unthinkable. Donning a pair of plastic gloves, Thomas took the razor and helped the homeless man clean up his shave.

When asked about the incident on WXYZ Detroit., Thomas stated that the man had a big smile on his face and thanked him. Later on, the homeless man stated on air that he deeply appreciated the help.

"That was beautiful what he did and God is gonna bless him for doing that for me because he didn't have to do that."

Imagine what the world would be like if we all took the time out of our days to help someone out. Pass this story along to your friends and family to brighten their days!
