Come on, who doesn’t absolutely adore Sandra Bullock? Everyone has a favorite movie she has starred in: Miss Congeniality, Speed, The Blind Side, Gravity, and the list goes on and on!

But perhaps the best thing about Sandra Bullock is how relatable she is, despite the fact she is one of the most famous women on the planet. Sure, she glams up nicely for all those award shows, but she’s also a mother who’s just trying to raise her kids the best she can.

Recently, Sandra Bullock sat down with Hoda Kotb of the Today Show to have an emotional heart-to-heart discussion about the subject of adoption. Hoda, just like Sandra, became a mother through adoption, and there is a lot these two have in common.

They both became mothers a little bit later in life, and they discuss how they felt as if, because of societal constraints and perceptions, that they had missed their chances to have and raise children.

But Sandra says that everything changed for her after Hurricane Katrina, and she knew she couldn’t let other people decide if she could be a mother or not.

In the interview, Hoda begins by asking how Sandra’s life has changed since becoming a mother. Sandra says that, without a doubt, her priorities have shifted away from her career:

“Being a mom I finally realize, ‘Oh, this is what I was supposed to do when I grow up. Not be an actress but be a mom.’”

Sandra doesn’t regret waiting for her two adopted children. She believes that everything worked out the way it was meant to, and she was just waiting for her children to make their way to her. And she doesn’t believe adoptive parents are any less than biological parents, as she says, “You’re a forever parent the minute you accept the love of that child.”

Hoda then reveals that Sandra inspired her to adopt. She says that she realized they were both the same age, so why couldn’t Hoda become a mother as well? Reaching out to Sandra, Hoda says that her words of wisdom and encouragement meant the world to her.

With shared tears and similar stories, it’s clear that these two women have both found true happiness through the adoption of their children.
