His Owner Abandoned Him When He Got Sick - But His New Friends Refused To Let Him Die Alone

Parker was four years of age when he was diagnosed with cancer. The human who agreed to look after Parker decided he was not up for caring for a sick dog and abandoned the canine. Suddenly it seemed the dog had not much life left to live, and even worse, not much reason to live it.
But a group of good people from the Helping Hands for Animals stepped in and changed the dog's fortune.
Parker was living at a kennel located in the town of Glenwood, Iowa. The rescue group took the time to write down a bucket list for the dog. They wanted the last days of Parker's life to be filled with as much joy as possible.

When word began to circulate regarding Parker's story, things began to happen that no one could foresee.
People showed up from everywhere to help Parker. They gave him roast beef treats, chew toys, ice cream, and anything else they thought would brighten the day for him.
Parker was a good-natured dog that made an impression on everyone who crossed his path. Visitors to the kennel all commented on how special a dog he was. Rescuers gave the title 'Parker's Dance' to the weeks they had left to spend with the dog.
One mother in the area even brought her children in to read their favorite stories to the dog.
Parker's cancer continued to progress but his energy remained. Kennel owner Joe Huntoon said Parker's appetite remained healthy and he ate all of the treats that were left for him. Parker also never missed out on an opportunity to play with the other dogs at the kennel.
Unfortunately, Joe was forced to deliver the terrible news of Parker's demise last September 27.
Parker never knew his last days were not spent in a forever home. He only knew that he received as much love and attention as any dog in the world. Parker had no reason to feel bad about the human that abandoned him because he was replaced with scores of people that showed him true love until his last day on earth.
There is no need to feel sad for Parker. Instead, we can all honor him by donating to a shelter that helps abandoned pets in our local area.
