Hillary Clinton Sympathises With Fellow ‘Gutsy Woman’ Meghan Markle And Says She ‘Just Wants To Hug Her.’

This week, Hillary Clinton, 72, and her daughter Chelsea Clinton, 39, had a tell-all interview with the BBC podcast Emma Barnett Gets Answers.

During the interview, Hillary Clinton expressed her distaste towards the behaviour of British tabloids when reporting on Meghan Markle, saying “race” definately plays a role.  

When asked about what she thought about Meghan Markle, the former First Lady immediately expressed her support for the Duchess. 

“Oh my God, I just want to hug her!” Clinton told Barnett. “I feel as a mother I just want to put my arms around her. I want to tell her to hang in there, don’t let those bad guys get you down. Keep going, do what you think is right.”

Clinton also touched the topic of race, which she says is “clearly an element” in the British medias’ treatment of Markle.

"To think that some of your -- what we would call mainstream -- media actually allowed that to be printed in their pages, or amplified, was heartbreaking and wrong," she added. 

The 72-year-old then expressed her admiration for the Duchess of Sussex, referring to her as an “amazing young woman.”

"She has stood up for herself, she has made her own way in the world," said Clinton. "And then she falls in love, and he falls in love with her, and everybody should be celebrating that because it is a true love story."

Last month, the Duchess of Sussex launched legal action against UK based media Associated Newspapers, citing the “misuse of private information, infringement of copyright and breach of the Data Protection Act 2018” as their claims against the publishers. 

Her husband the Duke of Sussex immediately released a statement towards the public condemning the “ruthless campaign” against his wife by the British tabloid press, drawing comparisons to his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
