High School Students Go Crazy When Coach Enters The Door Upon Return Home From Deployment

The soldier spent five months working as an Army National Guard captain in war-torn Afghanistan. While on his deployment, Olson had to leave behind all the people that he cared the most about. This included his wife Tina and their two young children.

Olson also missed his students. The social studies teacher at Northridge High School in Layton, Utah also coaches the basketball and football team, endearing him to many students at the school.

While in Afghanistan, Olson would send his students pictures of his journey. They returned the favor by sending the popular teacher care packages. The students even remembered his birthday with cards.

Olson once said that being a coach makes him even more connected to his students. He explained that he has gone through so many ups and downs with his players, strengthening the connection that they have both on and off of the field. This bond made the reunion even more special.

Olson decided that he wanted to surprise the students when he learned that he would be arriving home even earlier than expected.
