A high school homecoming queen proved that she truly is a queen with a heart of gold.

Trinity Arrington was chosen to be S&S High School's new homecoming queen. As reported by KXII, Trinity graciously went to accept her crown, but she knew that she wasn't going to keep it. She asked her friends to vote for another young lady because she wanted to see the other girl become the homecoming queen instead.

The other girl is Emily Petty, and she has Down syndrome. Trinity and Emily met the day that Trinity started to eat lunch with the special education class. Emily had a dream of being a princess and having Trinity be a princess alongside her. Trinity wanted to make this dream come true, so she gave her crown to Emily. She believed that Emily deserved to be a princess.

Videos of the ceremony show Trinity holding hands with Emily. Trinity is wearing the homecoming sash, but Emily is wearing the homecoming crown. Trinity thought that the best thing about the honor was that she got to share it with Emily.

Trinity inspires Emily to be her best self, but Emily also inspires Trinity. Homecoming will be a night that neither of them will soon forget. “She’s always been my queen, she deserved it. It made her happy,” Trinity told KXII. Being queen made her so happy, and she deserved that honor.
