Heroic Teen Grabs 4-Year-Old Niece And Hides When She Hears Stranger Kicking In Door

Babysitting is a job that many teenagers take to make extra money, especially young girls. Many decide to take babysitting courses to make sure that they are prepared for any event. However, there are some things that just cannot be taught in a classroom. Savannah Jones, who is just 14-years-old, learned this when she was babysitting her niece.

A babysitting class or manual would not prepare anyone for an intruder breaking in, which is the situation Savannah found herself in one day. Savannah was forced to trust her gut while she was babysitting Zoyee, her 4-year-old niece, one day in Montclair, California. Luckily, she was able to act quickly in the situation. Because of her, they both escaped unharmed.

Around 3:30 p.m. on the day she was babysitting, Savannah heard a knock on the door. She knew not to open the door to a stranger. Instead, she checked the peephole and was immediately unsettled when seeing the strange man standing at the door.

Savannah was smart enough to know that she should hide Zoyee in the bathroom. She then texted her mother, Maria Muratalla, to ask her what she should do. But while she was on her phone, the stranger began to knock even harder. Then, she saw the doorknob begin to move as he tried to open the door.

Savannah could see that the man was attempting to break into the home. She ran to hide with Zoyee in the bathroom. Luckily, her timing was perfect. The man broke down the front door just as she locked the bathroom door.

At this point, Savannah knew she had to make sure Zoyee stayed quiet. She did not want the little girl making noise and alerting the stranger to their location. As they hid, she sent terrified texts to her mother, who called 911 and then a neighbor. The neighbor came over to check out the house.

Luckily, by the time the police and neighbor arrived, the intruder had fled the scene. Thankfully, he never knew the two were hiding in the bathroom. Both girls were unharmed.

We can’t believe how well Savannah handled such a terrifying ordeal. She is definitely wise beyond her age! We are so glad that she had the sense to run and hide when the stranger knocked on the door. She is a brave young lady, for sure!
