Heroic Dog Leads Police Officer to Injured 86-Year-Old Woman Who Fell During An Evening Walk

A routine evening walk quickly turned into a frightening ordeal for an 86-year-old woman in Destin, Florida. What started as a simple stroll with her son’s dog, Eeyore, ended with a fall and an urgent call for help. According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 25, 2025.
Her husband grew worried when his wife did not return home within her usual 10 to 15 minutes. “It’s almost an hour now!” he told Deputy Devon Miller, according to body camera footage shared by the OCSO. Concerned about his missing wife, he called authorities to report the situation.
Thankfully, Eeyore, the family dog, played a key role in ensuring his owner’s safety. The loyal pup stopped Deputy Miller’s mobile car and guided her straight to the woman’s location, demonstrating a level of awareness and loyalty that amazed everyone involved. While the situation could have quickly turned more serious, the dog’s intervention helped bridge the gap between the woman in distress and the emergency responders.

Once Deputy Miller spotted Eeyore in the video, the dog immediately led her to the woman, who was lying on a sidewalk near a local golf course. “I’ve got you ma’am!” the deputy called out as she ran toward the injured woman.
The 86-year-old was alert and conscious, explaining what had happened while the dog paced nervously nearby. “He wouldn’t leave! He kept coming back to me!” she said. The deputy then praised the dog repeatedly. She patted the panting pup and said:
“Good boy!”
“Oh Eeyore, you’re such a good boy!” Deputy Miller said. “Grandma loves you!” The dog continued to move between the two, clearly aware that his family member needed help. Paramedics soon arrived and transported the woman to a medical facility for evaluation.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact extent of her injuries, but the quick response and Eeyore’s guidance ensured that she received timely care. This incident highlighted both the importance of attentive neighbors and the unwavering loyalty of a beloved pet. It also serves as a heartwarming reminder of the bond between humans and their pets and of how, sometimes, our furry friends are our best first responders.
