St. Bernard dogs are known for their big size and even bigger hearts. Some St. Bernards can weigh up to 260 pounds or more. A large group of St. Bernard dogs is even called a "floof!" How funny is that? St. Bernards are famed for alpine rescues in the western Alps of Italy and Switzerland. In this dramatic rescue case, though, it was the St. Bernard who got saved.

According to KRQE, Jazzy the St. Bernard escaped from her owner's home. Razor the Dachsund noticed right away that something was wrong when Jazzy didn't come back. Razor tried communicating distress by barking over and over. Tim Chavez, Razor and Jazzy's owner, didn't pick up on what was happening.

Then Razor took matters into his own paws. After Chavez left for work, Razor tried getting help from anyone who would listen. Finally, a passerby heard Razor barking nonstop and followed him to where Jazzy was stuck in the mud.

Poor Jazzy was stuck almost two feet down into the mud in an irrigation ditch. This big and lovable dog must have been so scared.

Jazzy was pulled to safety by a local fire and rescue team. St. Bernards are really heavy, so they had to use backboard straps to pull Jazzy out.

Razor must be so happy to have his friend safe and alive. It's amazing what animals will do to help each other out.
