Hero Jack Russell Draws Owner Into Underbrush To Find Baby Abandoned By Mother
Jun 27, 2019 by apost team
Animals come to the rescue of humans on a regular basis. It's as if we were all meant to live together with compassion and concern for one another. Can we learn this from the animals in our lives? Let's hope so!
The Dog
The Jack Russell terrier in this story reported in The Daily Mail is a small but fierce breed. It seems Macho, the dog in this account, was fiercely protective! He found a way to turn his walk into a rescue mission. You don't have to belong to one of those big search-and-rescue breeds to be a canine hero. So what did Macho do that was so important? He rescued a little girl. How did he do that when he's so small? He found a girl that was even smaller than he was. And wow, did she need rescuing!

The Baby Girl
Left behind by her mother in the woods, the baby girl was underweight and suffering from exposure to the elements. She was a newborn clothed only in a tee-shirt which did nothing to protect her from the chill of St. Petersburg, Russia. In fact, when rescue personnel arrived, they felt she had only minutes to live. The quick action of rescue personnel depended on the action of Macho's owner. And Macho was the little dog who set it all in motion. Because of him, the baby got the help she needed. She survived her terrible ordeal.
How It Happened
Macho's owner was walking his dog in a park in St. Petersburg, Russia. The terrier suddenly pulled on his leash, dragging his owner right off the pathway. The owner wasn't pleased about this and resisted. Macho pulled even harder! That was when the owner figured he'd have to let the dog investigate before they could continue their walk. Macho led him deeper into the bushes until they found a little baby girl who had been abandoned there. Macho's owner acted quickly and found police help nearby. Five days after the incident, hospital workers said the baby was thriving. Macho's owner has to recover from the shock, but he has Macho to help him.
So if you know a dog lover (and who doesn't?), or you love babies (and who doesn't??), then pass this story around. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the animals in our lives for their quiet, unrecognized service.
