Last month, a dad was shot as he shielded his children inside a Bronx, New York car dealership.

A heroic father says he was doing what any father would do when he took a bullet protecting his three boys from a shooter. Anthony Jefferson wanted to surprise his wife with a new car for her birthday, so he loaded up his three boys taking them to a car dealership in the Bronx, New York. The kids, ages 6, 5, and 2, were sitting on the couch with their dad when a man began shooting at a man who was inside the dealership. The man started to shoot back before the attacker ran away. It was reported gang warfare.

During this, Anthony used his own body to cover his young boys, reported PIX11 News. Anthony said he is not a hero, just a father doing what any dad would do. In the video, you can see a bullet go through the couch right where his young son was sitting. He says it would have hit the little boy in the head. Anthony was shot in the process, but his sons were fine.

He was rushed to the hospital. Anthony was able to calmly call his wife, Danica, and ask her to go get the kids. She had no clue there was a shooting. She told Inside Edition that he is her hero every day, and now the world gets to see what she knows.

The three boys were left traumatized from the entire ordeal. Anthony cannot walk, so sadly he lost both of his jobs. He was a professional painter and a construction worker. He will still need surgery to get the bullet out of his leg.

A friend of the family sent up a GoFundMe page to help the family until Anthony gets a new job. The money will go towards therapy for the boys and surgery for Anthony.

This is such a heroic story. An everyday dad doing everything he can to take care of his boys is the center of this story. Pass it on to friends who need a lift today.
