At approximately 6:30 a.m. on July 4th, Milwaukee County transit driver Duane Butler spotted a 2-year-old boy wandering alone. He was traveling his usual route when he spotted the boy, dressed in a shirt, pants, and slippers, roaming alone on the street.

Fortunately, Duane only had a few passengers on the bus, and they all unanimously agreed that they needed to stop the bus and help the little boy.

As the bus stopped, Duane radioed the local police for assistance in finding relatives for the boy, and one of the passengers stepped off the bus and gently picked up the child in an effort to console him. Naturally, he was very distraught at being left alone. He was crying until he found a quiet place on the bus to sit while everyone waited for the police to arrive.

Duane and passengers all agreed that this was the most eventful thing that had happened to any one of them in quite some time, and when local authorities arrived, they did what they could to continue consoling the child while locating his family members.

When the boy was reunited with his family, they had realized that he had escaped the family home when the entire family was asleep. Luckily, the boy hadn't gotten very far before Duane came to the rescue.

Thanks to the quick thinking and action of Duane and his modest crew of passengers, the bus bound clan was able to find safety and security for the little boy once more. Thanks for your heroism, Duane!
