America's story is the story of immigrants. Most of us have ancestors who immigrated here from somewhere else. They came because they hoped for a better future for themselves and the generations to come. The parents of Rami Malek are no exception. They came to the United States from Egypt. Nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Actor, Malek has never forgotten his family's roots. His extended family in Egypt continues to root for him and support his endeavors as an actor. They are also proud of Malek's twin brother and his sister, who are not in the acting industry.

Malek's extended family in Egypt could not make it to Hollywood to watch the Oscars. That's okay because they found a way to watch from home. Fadi, Malek's cousin, along with his relatives in Feltaous, Egypt, watched the awards ceremony and kept up with it on social media. They did a dance for joy upon finding out that Malek won.

Malek was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Malek had to undergo a big transformation. This transformation included artificial teeth, a cosmetic nose adjustment, a faux mustache and more. He also had to learn how to move like Freddie, so he worked with a movement coach. He practiced talking with the artificial teeth for a full year before filming began. In addition to Malek's Oscar nomination, he also won Best Actor in the BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Awards.

Everyone was thrilled for Malek when his name was called as the winner. His international family as well as his sister, brother and mom were also overjoyed. They knew he was passionate about acting and good at it, but they did not realize that others also recognized his ability to transform on the big screen. Malek's father passed away a while ago, so the rest of the family was extra joyous on his behalf. Malek's girlfriend and Bohemian Rhapsody co-star, Lucy Boynton, was also thrilled at his win. He gave her a big kiss before going on stage. In his acceptance speech, Malek thanked his family, recognized his immigrant status and thanked Lucy.
