Kelly Clarkson is a songwriter, singer, television personality, and actress whose humble origins began on April 24, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas. From her humble Texas background, Clarkson became famous when she won the first season of American Idol. We can see glimmers of Clarkson's bright future in her full audition tape from that first season of American Idol, which aired for the first time back in 2002.

The first season of American Idol was all the way back in 2002. Kelly was only 20 years at that time, according to History.com. When Clarkson decided to audition, she worked as a cocktail waitress after several failed periods in the music industry.

During that season of Idol, nobody knew it would have a huge effect on American society. The concept of the series includes discovering new talents from unknown singers. The idea is that the person who wins the contest gets a contract with a well-known recording studio.

An exclusive concept is that the winner is not determined by the jury, but by the American viewers who use the phones, the internet, and SMS to vote. American Idol has turned into one of the most effective shows in American TV history.

For season one of American Idol, Kelly was the modest young lady who did not overwhelm all the judges, even though they liked her. Notoriously difficult to please, judge Simon Cowell said later in the season that he did not understand her. Before entering the audition room, Kelly said that she wanted to become an American idol because she likes performing.

When Clarkson auditioned, she sang Madonna’s Express Yourself. Because of Clarkson's down-to-earth, easy-going character, the audition doesn't even seem like an audition. After she's finished with her performance, which the judges clearly liked, the audition takes a fun and unexpected turn. Clarkson jokes that judge Randy Jackson should switch places with her, he agrees and sings a half-hearted line from R. Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly.

From that very first audition, in which we can already see Clarkson's greatness (along with her great personality), the 20-year-old singer won season one of American Idol. But success did not stop there. She won a recording contract with RCA Records and made her debut with a single labeled A Moment Like This, which then topped the US Billboard Hot 100 charts, according to Biography.com.

It also turned out to be the best-selling single song in the United States in 2002. Clarkson wanted to change her style; hence, she parted ways with American Idol management and switched to pop-rock for her next album titled BreakawayShe has sung countless number-one records and has won more than one Grammy Award together with several other awards.
