Here's Malia Obama’s British Boyfriend, Rory Farquharson

Growing up in the spotlight was no small feat for Malia, the daughter of former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Having her life under constant scrutiny has led the former First Daughter to crave privacy.

Her love life is no exception. When she first started dating Rory Farquharson two years ago, she tried desperately to keep the relationship under wraps.

TMZ caught her kissing Rory at a football game between Harvard and Yale in November 2017 which led to the world finding out about her romance. Other media outlets quickly scrambled to find out more about the new man in Malia's life, with the Daily Mail revealing that Rory comes from an affluent British family and is currently a law student at Harvard.

Despite their relationship being uncovered, the pair still attempted to keep their romance as private as possible. Malia and Rory, both 21-year-old students at Harvard University, enjoy doing what any other couple their age does.

They frequent coffee shops, festivals, and spend a lot of time visiting New York City and London. Since Rory is originally from the U.K., it's important for the former rugby player to visit his family often.

Rory's family has a unique connection to another famous family – the royal family. His second cousin, Andrew Farquharson, worked as an aide for Queen Elizabeth and was also the Assistant Master of the Household at Buckingham Palace. He also has a close relationship with Prince Charles.

The fact that Rory has a royal connection probably helped his case when it came to winning over Malia's parents, Barack and Michelle. The former President and First Lady have a great relationship with Prince Harry and other members of the royal family.

In addition to coming from a well-known family and studying law at Harvard, Rory has a history of making good grades and being athletic. He was one of the top students at Rugby School in the U.K. where he was a member of the chemistry club and played both golf and rugby. Those who know him say Rory is a good guy who's nice to everyone he meets. 

"I always saw potential in him", a former female classmate of his told The Tap. "I used to be obsessed with him at school".

Seeing as Malia has been dating him for two years now, it's plain to see he's won over her heart.
