Here Is The Reason Why I’m Thankful My Ex Cheated On Me

Cheating in relationships has been a common habit for ages now, and it does happen almost everywhere. Many people claim they are in serious relationships yet their actions do not relate to the suggested commitment in any way.

Infidelity and cheating scenarios can crush the victim terribly. It is taking another individual for a fool and having their trust on you broken. And because these lies emanate from people you loved and trusted entirely, they come as a surprise and in the most brutal ways.

Since you are not always together with your partner, you will never be certain that they are always telling the truth. We tend to give reasons that may push someone to cheat, like the gradual build-up of toxicity in a relationship. However, cheating is a choice that one makes.

The damages are usually gradual, and it is quite challenging to allow them to slip through your fingers. You will try to make sense of it all, but nothing will add up. I always stand old school with the belief that cheating in a relationship is unjustifiable, under all situations. But they say everything happens for a specific reason, and I am glad I got cheated on.

I came to accept everything that transpired in that relationship. I decided to quit that relationship after finding out that my ex had slept with some other lady. It's not just that; he was expecting a child with her despite the fact that we had been dating for more than a year. This happens when you ignore all the red flags.

It came as a surprise, caught me unaware. I had heard of those horror stories but never did I think for a moment that I would be a victim of infidelity. Like anyone else, I got furious. I was mad that I was taken for a fool by a man I liked for sharing love and trust. Then, sadness followed. Everything that I had put into that relationship was all built on lies. Then I started to question where I had gone wrong and what pushed him to cheat. My self-esteem was on the low end.

I was broken, a shell of the woman I was. My perception of love and relationships changed, and I didn’t know what to think about it anymore. My confidence shrunk to a point I would look at the mirror and ask if I was woman enough to hold onto a relationship. Was I ever beautiful in the first place? Or perhaps it's my naivety that got me to that situation. Maybe I was the toxic element that kicked him out, and all that time I couldn’t complete the puzzle.

I thought probably the woman he cheated on me with was better than I was. I was negative for far too long. But then, time heals, and there came a time I decided to call off the sorry party; enough was enough.

I got weary of convincing myself that I was the wrongful party in that cheating scenario. I was tired of seeing myself not good enough for anyone. I was done draining myself in an endless pit of self-blame and self-pity. I had to start working on myself. If I wanted to be happy again, it wouldn’t depend on anyone else apart from me; happiness is a choice.

And because the other person failed to see your significance when you were around doesn’t mean they go with your worth once they leave. Your life shouldn’t revolve around anyone else. It takes a broken vase to realize that you need another new vase. I learned my lesson and started to change how I think. I became grateful for that phase in life.

These life challenges mold us into stronger versions of ourselves. It is because of that experience that I managed to find my stronger hidden self within me. The hurt was only going to last a short time but the lessons and courage built from his cheating were going to last for a lifetime.

I was ready for the future. It was the start of a new beginning, and I could feel it. Just because a relationship didn’t work doesn’t mean life stops at that. Sometimes, the end of relationship signifies the start of something good. You have to shed the bad to make space for the good, right? Once you take the lessons positively with no bile, you will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Have you ever been through a situation like that? If so, tell us about your experience! Or if you know someone who is going through the same thing, show them this article to let them know that they are deserving of love and that their pain won’t last forever!
