Victoria Arlen was an athlete when she was younger. She took care of her body and rarely got sick. When Victoria was 11, her life changed. She was in a battle with her body and mind, some thought she would never be able to overcome it.

Victoria's symptoms began when her feet went numb. Only a few weeks after that, Victoria was in the hospital because she couldn't move. She also lost a lot of her cognitive function.

Doctors told Victoria's parents to take her home because they didn't know what was wrong and weren't sure how to treat her. They decided to get a hospital bed to transform a room in their home for Victoria.

Victoria couldn't get out of bed, her legs wouldn't move like she wanted them to. She basically watched as her body was slowly shutting down.

Later on, the doctors diagnosed her with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and transverse myelitis - these autoimmune diseases were the cause of an inflammation of her spine and brain.

Doctors told Victoria's parents that she was in a state of vegetative paralysis. This lasted for about four years. The first two were totally blurred out of Victoria's memory.

But when she came out of her paralysis, she told her parents that she could hear everything that people said around for the 3rd and 4th year of her vegetative paralysis. She just hadn't been able to respond to anything. She had been trapped in her own body, not able to move or speak.

But instead of giving up, Victoria used this time for prayer, to create screenplays in her mind, and to plan out the life she would live if she'd ever wake up again. Victoria's positive thinking made her stronger.

And eventually, in 2009, she woke up. It was a miracle!

And Victoria amazed everyone when she performed on Dancing With The Stars and became an anchor for ESPN!
