Helen Mirren Sweetly Comments On Comparisons To Keanu Reeves' Girlfriend

Keanu Reeves, 55, stepped out on the red carpet last week with artist Alexandra Grant, 46, at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles. The pair smiled for the cameras while they held hands, sparking rumors of a romantic relationship.

If the rumors are true, Grant would be Reeves’ first publicly acknowledged girlfriend since Jennifer Syme in the 90s reports Metro. The Hollywood actor is notoriously private and prefers to keep his love life to himself, but it looks like for once he was happy to show off a little PDA at the star-studded gala.

Grant wore a gorgeous midnight blue floor length gown and Reeves was in head-to-toe black, staying close to his date while the cameras snapped away.

The woman of mystery is an LA-based artist who creates text-based artworks and according to The New York Times, the two met at a dinner party in 2009. Since then they became business partners and friends, and collaborated on a 2011 book, “Ode to Happiness.”

They also built a publishing house together, X Artists’ Books, that is described on their website as “a small publisher of thoughtful, high-quality, artist-centered books that fit within and between genres”.

With news of Grant and Reeves now officially being an item, many fans took to Twitter to share some thoughts. Many were overjoyed, but some were seemingly also confused. Apparently, Grant has an uncanny resemblance to actress Helen Mirren which caused many to think it was her when they first saw photos of the item. 

"I wasn't wearing my glasses at first and I legit thought he was dating Helen Mirren which I also would have been here for," wrote one user. 

Another wrote, 

"Did anyone else thought when they saw the image of Keanu Reeves with his new partner that she looked like Helen Mirren at first? Regardless, I'm very happy for Keanu and hope him and Alexandra have a very loving relationship as they have known each other for a long time"

The news got around to Helen Mirren, and ET caught up with her on another red carpet event for her upcoming movie, "The Good Liar." She told reporters her positive reaction to people thinking she was dating Keanu: "I saw that! That was very flattering on me you know because she's obviously lovely," referring to Alexandra Grant.
