Losing a child is a traumatic experience for any parent. When you lose your husband at the same time, it seems impossible to keep going in life. Unfortunately, Jessica Lybrand knows exactly what this feeling is like.

A Drunk Driver Causes a Devastating Tragedy

It seemed like a normal day at first. Jessica had no way of knowing that she would lose the most important people in her life by the end of the day. Initially, Jessica was excited to wake up. She had just turned 21, and that fateful day was her birthday.

Jessica's baby, Elliana, was still little, so she planned on sending Elliana to her grandmother's during her birthday celebration. It would be the first day that Jessica was ever away from her daughter since she was born. Her husband, Zachary Lybrand, was excited to prepare for his wife's birthday.

Like responsible parents, Jessica and Zachary planned out two designated drivers for the celebration. Before the birthday party was supposed to begin, Zachary drove Elliana to her grandmother's house for the night. When Jessica tried to call him, she could not get through.

Unfortunately, her worry was entirely appropriate. Soon, Jessica learned that a drunk driver had hit Zachary's car. The father and daughter did not survive the accident. Jack Satterfield was the 29-year-old driver in the accident. He was drunk and driving a tractor-trailer while under the influence.

The father and daughter died on impact, which was the only consolation that the poor mother had. After the impact, the car burst into flames. The bodies were burned beyond recognition. Ethan Van Bochovon was also in the car and died because of the accident.

After the accident, Jessica struggled to grieve. She ended up writing an emotionally charged post on Facebook about the grief that she was going through. As you can see in the post, the accident changed her life on every possible level. Jessica could no longer hold her husband or daughter. Instead of enjoying a birthday celebration, she had to plan out the funeral arrangements.

Her post was also designed to warn other people about drunk driving. People have a few drinks and think that they are safe enough to drive. As this horrible accident shows, a few drinks can end up destroying lives.

Jessica and her husband never planned for death. Her husband was only 24 years old, so he had his entire life ahead of him. They did not have any savings for a funeral because they never expected a drunk driver to change their lives forever.

Now, Jessica has made a GoFundMe page to cover the funeral costs. She hopes the funeral will be a chance for everyone to remember the beautiful souls of her husband and daughter.
