Heartbroken Dog Runs Away From New Home Every Day, And One Day Owner’s Son Decides To Follow Him

The bond between a dog and his owner can be incredible, and this bond often carries on even after the pet passes away. Because of the relatively short lifespan of a dog compared to a human, owners often must endure the loss of a pet more frequently than a dog would endure the loss of his human. A recent story, however, illustrates that dogs can mourn the death of their own intensely.

In January 2017, Mehmet Ilhan passed away. He was 79 years old at the time of his death, and he had been paralyzed because of a serious illness for his last few years.

During those years, Mehmet’s dog, Cesur, spent an incredible amount of time with him.

Cesur’s love of Mehmet was clearly visible when the owner was in the hospital for a few days immediately before passing away. The dog refused to eat during these days. After Mehmet’s passing, the body was returned and prepared for the funeral.

Cesur remained by his owner’s body until the day of the funeral arrived.

At the funeral, Cesur played a role in the funeral procession. Cesur hung his head solemnly during the burial ceremony as well. The dog refused to let anyone touch him until after the coffin had been placed in the ground.

Cesur now lives with Mehmet’s son, Ali. Ali noticed something unusual about Cesur after bringing the dog into his home. Cesur would run away from the house for several hours after Ali left for work. When Ali followed the dog one day, he was floored by what he saw.

The dog ran to Mehmet’s gravesite and sat there for hours. Cemetery workers said they see the mourning dog every morning.

Ali states that Cesur is a noble, loyal dog. He has pledged to provide the best care possible to a dog that served as a loving companion to his father in the last years of his life.
