Heartbreaking Photo Of Brother Comforting His Dying Sister Shows Just How Strong Sibling Love Is

Brothers and sisters fight. There are arguments, drama, and sibling rivalry in any family, but no matter what, family is always there for you. This statement couldn’t be truer than for Jackson Sooter, a six-year-old little boy who was comforting Adalynn, his four-year-old little sister, just a couple of minutes before she moved on from this world on June 3rd.

The shot, captured by Matt Sooter, father of both young children, has gone viral on Facebook. The picture was captured with a heart-breaking sentiment from the father. Sooter stated that no little boy should ever have to say goodbye to his little sister, who was also his best friend, playmate, and partner in crime. He goes on to say that this was not the way it was supposed to be but that we live in a broken world.

Sooter later told PEOPLE that while it was a sweet moment, they expected it to happen. Jackson always took care of his little sister and was wonderful to her. While he is still a very happy child, he misses his sister greatly.

Adalynn, known to family and friends as “Addy," had been battling against a very aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumor known as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma.

Her battle lasted 18-months. She was first diagnosed in November of 2016. At that time, doctors only gave Addy a couple of months to live. She shocked everyone, both family and hospital staff, when the tumor started to shrink and she passed the predicted time of her death. Unfortunately, the good news didn’t mean that Addy would beat cancer. Matt stated at the time that while they were trying everything possible to change the outcome of the diagnosis, they didn’t expect to win the fight.

He said they didn’t give up, but they knew they were losing the war against cancer.

Unfortunately, doctors told Matt and mom Chandra that there wasn’t too much more that they could do after dozens of radiation treatments failed. However, they weren’t going to give up on their little girl just yet. They went to Monterrey, Mexico to seek treatment, costing them a whopping $200,000 for a 12-day trip.

That treatment was not effective, either. Little Jackson, along with his parents, prepared themselves for the worst.

Matt says that while they are in mourning, they will get through the loss together as a family. They miss her terribly, but they know that they tried everything in their power to save her. She isn’t in pain any longer, Matt says, and it was only “See you later.” They know that they will see her again.
