Raging fires do more than destroy precious forestry. They also bring an end to the lives of many beautiful animals. In Australia, fires rage out of control in many parts of the country. Koalas suffer terribly from the events. Sue Ashton, the Koala Conservation Australia President bluntly said in the Herald Sun that koalas are literally being burnt to ashes in the trees. She is not exaggerating. Fires hit more than 100 different locations in Australia, so the impact on koalas is massive.
Thankfully, some humans rise to the occasion to help out when animals appear in need. A man named Darrel visited a devastated area and came across a badly burned koala. Darrel gave the poor koala a drink of water from a plastic cup, as shown here in a report in The Evening Standard.
The little creature appreciated the man's gesture. Those wishing to see the appreciation in the koala's face can look at the video of Darrel's good deed. Tears may come to your eye when you see it.

The story does not remain sad, though. The koala, now named Kate, was taken to the facility known as Koala Hospital Port Macquarie.
Members of the facility shared the images of Kate with her rescuer. People responded with heartbreaking messages about how sad they feel about the horrors the koalas go through. Many do feel uplifted after watching Darrel's good deed, though.
The koala hospital did set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for injured and thirsty koalas. Donations exceeded their goal of $25,000, and, hopefully, the money will do great good.
It would be a wonderful thing to let people know about Darrel's kind actions and the great work of the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie. Besides raising awareness about the terrible fires in Australia, you would be telling the world that some good people do their part when animals suffers.
