Heart-Stopping Footage Shows Moment Two Women Are Flung Off Swing At Edge Of 6,300 Foot Cliff — Both Women Miraculously Survived

What started off as something fun and innocent quickly turned into one of the most frightening moments for two women and their lives. An anxiety-ridden and frightening video has been circulating around the internet that showcases the moment that two women were flung off a swing on the edge of a cliff in Russia. The pair were swinging over Sulak Canyon in Dagestan, a Russian region that faces the Caspian Sea,  when something went horribly wrong, causing the swing’s cable to snap and send the women flying off the 6,300-foot cliff. Miraculously, they both survived.

The swing is a popular tourist attraction and brings in a large crowd. If you are afraid of heights, this is probably not the attraction for you, as people line up to be pushed on the swing gives a beautiful view during a terrifying moment of breaching the cliff’s edge. The two women in the video from July 2021 were seen waiting for their turn in line to get up and swing safely over the edge of the extremely high-up cliff. What was a moment full of excitement and heart-rushing adrenaline quickly turned catastrophic.

A video showcasing the heart-stopping moment is definitely not for the faint of heart as it captured the exact time that the women were scarily flung over the cliff’s edge. Despite the clear shock and horror the women were met with following the incident, they were left mostly unscathed as they only received minor injuries. If it wasn’t for the circumstances regarding the time that the cable snapped and the location where the women were able to land following their fall, the result could have been much worse. 

In a terrifying accident, two women were launched off a swing at the edge of a cliff in Russia in July 2021. The Sun reported that the cable holding the chair of the swing snapped, resulting in the two women’s joyride turning into one of terror. The swing was not at the maximum height at the time of the cable snapping. 

A video capturing the horrifying moment has been uploaded to YouTube under restriction guidelines, as it is not for the faint-hearted. Plenty of people were gathered on the top of the cliff keeping a safe distance from the edge aside from those who were on the swing. The two Russian women got on the swing during their turn and were pushed high into the air as the swing went over the edge. The rhythm got a bit lost and a cable on the swing snapped, sending the women directly off the edge in a heart-stopping moment.

Thankfully, the ladies landed on a narrow platform under the edge of the cliff, saving them from a more detrimental circumstance. The Sun reported that the two only suffered a few cuts and bruises despite the extreme toss. “The girls got scared and sustained scratches, but neither of them suffered serious injuries,” a source told Komsomolskaya Pravda, as per the Sun.

Russian police immediately launched an investigation regarding the situation, and the near-death moment has caused many other places to perform extra safety measures and checks on similar swings in the surrounding areas. According to the Sun, these measures were especially being taken in areas where the canyon is more than one mile deep. The Kazbekovsky council has since demanded that all similar swings near the cliff’s edge be removed.
