He Went To Get The Newspaper, But His Heart Skipped A Beat When He Saw This

Tim Newton is a photographer in Alaska who has gotten used to getting great snapshots of rare animals for his website. In September of 2017, however, the animals he usually looked for came to him instead.

Tim heard strange noises coming from outside of his house one morning. He couldn’t believe it when he saw three lynx kits fooling around on his porch and took off inside to snatch up his trusted camera. However, the kittens ran away. Tim was disappointed when he came back in, thinking that was the last he would see of them.

However, a few minutes later the three kits came back, bringing their family along.

Tim wrote about the experience of seeing the mother lynx and her kits on Rugged Alaska, his website. The kits all lined up when the mother called to them. That is when he started to click his camera at all seven of the kits on his porch, sitting calmly near their mom.

He watched in disbelief and joy as the kits began to run around in the grass, jumping on the furniture, and chasing one another in joy. He made sure to get as many pictures as he could while they were outside, as lynxes are typically shy animals. It’s usually hard to get a picture of just one lynx, let alone seven at a time. The babies ran off when they heard the mother lynx calling for them.

Tim and his family were even more shocked when a month later, the whole family ended up on his deck again. They seemed to enjoy the attention they were getting. Tim’s wife even videotaped the lynxes amazing visit this time. You can see in the video just how happy the little ones are!

The family came back three more times since that visit. He took videos and photos of the family each time. Tim has not seen the family since their last visit in January of 2018. However, he is hopeful that the mother lynx will be back with a new litter in the winter.

Tim’s backyard has had a fair share of wildlife. In the spring, a family of huge moose came to visit, and he also got amazing footage of a black mother bear with her two young cubs. His backyard has obviously gained a reputation as the place to play!
