When you lose someone to cancer, it is extremely traumatic. Millions of people are diagnosed with cancer each year, but scientists still have not found a cure for this dreaded disease. For one man, losing his mother led to a life-changing decision.

One Man Makes a Lasting Vow After Losing His Mother

Kevin still remembers the day when he lost his mother. It was 16 years ago that she died from cancer, but it felt like just yesterday to him. Like most loved ones, he struggled with grief after losing his mother. After her death, he vowed that he would never cut his hair again.

Amazingly, his wife put up with the vow. For the last 16 years, Kevin has slowly been growing out his hair for Locks of Love. This charity works to create wigs and other hair pieces for patients who have lost their hair during their battle with cancer.

The charity uses donated hair to make the wigs, but the hair has to reach a certain length before it can be cut. They also have other rules about dyeing the hair. For the hair to be donated, it has to be completely natural so that it can later be dyed as a part of the wig.

It took Kevin 16 years, but he was finally ready to chop off his long locks for the charity. Over the years, his hair had turned gray. He had grown a long beard to match his hair. When the big day arrived, Kevin decided to get his hair cut on national television.

Planning the Big Reveal

After talking with the hosts on Rachel, Kevin was led backstage for the final haircut. His wife waited impatiently on the stage. After 16 years, she had no clue what her husband looked like with short hair.

A few minutes passed by as his wife waited with the audience. Finally, the hosts announced that Kevin was coming back onto the stage. As he walked out, he looked like a different man. His long hair and beard were gone.

As the audience exclaimed over the difference, the hosts talked about the dramatic change. Meanwhile, his wife could barely speak as she looked at his new appearance. Kevin looked completely different.

The sudden haircut had made him look much younger. Judging by their smiles, the wife and husband were pleased with the amazing transformation.

What did you think of Kevin's haircut? Have you or anyone you know ever donated hair to make wigs for cancer patients too? We would love to hear your stories. Feel free to pass this along to your friends and family!
