Hayden Christensen Steps Out With 11-Year-Old Daughter at Star-Studded Gala

Hayden Christensen may be one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces, but he's always preferred to keep the spotlight at a respectful distance when it comes to his daughter, Briar Rose.

That's why fans were delighted when the "Star Wars" actor made a rare public appearance with his 11-year-old daughter at the opening-night gala for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles on Sept. 19.

The event celebrated the launch of the new museum dedicated to visual storytelling, founded by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson. For Christensen, whose career was forever shaped by the iconic franchise, the evening became even more meaningful with Briar Rose by his side.

The father and daughter were photographed smiling as they held hands on the red carpet, then leaned in for another affectionate photo during the celebration.

While Christensen has occasionally spoken about his daughter over the years, he and his former partner, Rachel Bilson, have been intentional about protecting her privacy. The pair have rarely shared photos of her face publicly, choosing instead to let her grow up away from constant media attention.

Despite that privacy, Bilson has occasionally shared glimpses into Briar Rose's life, revealing her love for Taylor Swift, cooking and even an interest in following in her parents' footsteps by acting someday.

Those rare updates have made public appearances like this one even more special for longtime fans.

The gala also reminded everyone how closely Christensen and Bilson have continued working together as co-parents long after ending their relationship in 2017.

Earlier this year, Bilson described their parenting dynamic as being in a particularly positive place.

"Ours is like a unique version of it," she said on Kristin Cavallari's "Let's Be Honest" podcast. "We get along really well. We do a lot of stuff together."

She has previously told PEOPLE that communication has always been the foundation of their relationship as parents.

"Communication is key and just being on the same page, so everything's about the kid," Bilson said. "As long as you put the kid first, everything will be okay."

In 2024, she told PEOPLE that Briar Rose "is so beautifully flourishing and has the support completely surrounding her from every side."

The latest outing offered another glimpse of that flourishing young girl.

For the occasion, Christensen kept his look understated in a gray T-shirt, navy blazer, distressed jeans and tan dress shoes, while Briar Rose wore a white embroidered dress paired with strappy ballet sneakers.

The appearance marked the first time many fans had seen the father-daughter duo together since August 2025, when they attended a Chicago Cubs game, where Christensen threw the ceremonial first pitch before the pair charmed the crowd by singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch.

This time, there was no performance—just a simple father-daughter night that quietly reminded fans how quickly Briar Rose is growing up.
