There's nothing scarier than flying. Well, at least for some people. Generally, most people are safer flying than they are driving a car. It seems to be an irrational fear to have a plane accident. Panic may flare inside of you when the landing gets a bit rough and turbulence gets a bit bumpy.

Yet, the fear of flying, also known as aviophobia plagues certain people daily. What's worse than having a fear of flying, is having aviophobia and getting caught in a storm.

Storm Callum wrecked the Uk last weekend. Hats and papers flew away from people as the winds continued to whip around. Flights and other travel plans were canceled due to the extreme weather. One plane was already in the air when the storm ravaged the UK.

On October 12th 2018, the Boeing 757-200 departed from Menorca, Spain when it got caught in the storm. Winds reached highs of 45 miles per hour and rain reached 69 miles per hour in England.

The wind was so strong, the airplane had to land on the runway sideways. Right before it hit the ground, the plane was perpendicular to the direction of the runway. The nose of the plane needed to be faced toward the wind. In sixty seconds, she uses the wind to guide the plane to safety. The airplane ended up landing in Bristol Airport. The plane's company and the airport is proud of the pilot for her amazing landing skills.

A YouTuber recorded the whole ordeal as they saw the plane land. MrAviationGuy uploaded the video for his viewers to see. He explained a pilot needs to think about how to navigate the crosswinds during rough weather.

The storm is still hitting the Uk hard. At least eleven flood warnings took place over the last few days. Many roads and bridges have been closed due to the rising water levels and flooding. Unfortunately, one man in Wales has died due to a landslide.

Officers advise to only travel when necessary due to the harsh weather conditions. There is no way of knowing when the roads will clear and how safe they'll be. Cancel at potential travel plans until the weather gets better.

Weather experts predict water levels will fall in the next week or so.
