Lisa Marie Presley was born on February 1, 1968, in Memphis, Tenessee, to parents Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

Just before her birth, Elvis was going through somewhat of a career-low. According to FOX news, the 60s marked an era in which the king of rock n’ roll starred in many Hollywood films - 27, to be exact - which left fans and critics unamused. In fact, the singer even admitted once that the sound of himself in movies made him “physically ill.”

The situation took a turn for the better, however, in 1968, with NBC’s ‘The ’68 Comeback Special’. The special saw Presley in a head-to-toe ensemble accompanied by a live band and performed an acoustic show in front of an intimate audience. The show proved to be an immediate success, and things were starting to look up. According to Deadline, the following years saw Elvis top the charts again with singles like ‘In the Ghetto’ and ‘Suspicious Minds’.

Although his career had taken a turn for the better, the same could not be said about his family life. In 1973, just six years into their marriage, Elvis and Priscilla would seek a divorce.

Following her parent’s separation, Lisa Marie would split her time between L.A., where she lived with her mother, and Maryland, where her dad resided.

According to Elvis: My Dad, a biography written for Lisa Marie written by David Adler and Ernest Andrews, Elvis would “let Lisa Marie run wild.”

“As soon as she learned how to ride her bike, she was a terror in the house, cruising around the formal dining room table,” they wrote.

“Elvis found it impossible to raise his voice to her. At most a firm ‘Lisa’ was all he could manage.”

Despite her special treatment, however, Lisa Marie never thought of herself as spoiled by her dad.

“I don’t think I looked at it as being spoiled,” she said in an interview with Stina Dabrowski.

“I think that I looked at it as my father loved me and didn’t get to spend a lot of time with me. And when he did, he wanted to go out of his way to do whatever I needed to do to make me seemingly happy.

n 1977, tragedy would strike; at the age of 42, Elvis Presley died of cardiovascular failure on August 16. Even more tragic, his daughter would find him lifeless that day on the bathroom floor.

“I don’t like talking about this,” the singer-songwriter told Radar Online in 2018. “It was 4 a.m. I was supposed to be asleep, actually. He found me.”

Elvis would put her to bed and kiss her goodnight, which was “the last time [she] saw him alive.”

In 1988 at the age of 20, Lisa Marie married her first husband, Danny Keough, a musician from Chicago. The following year she would have her first child, a daughter named Danielle Riley and then a son Benjamin Storm in 1992. Although the couple divorced in 1994, they remain good friends and colleagues up to this day.

Just 20 days following her divorce to Keough, she married Michael Jackson. Their marriage was shortlived, however, lasting just two years. They would too remain good friends following their separation. Lisa Marie would go on to marry another two times: she marries Nicolas Cage in 2002 (div. 2004) and Michael Lockwood in 2006, whom she had twin daughters with. They separated in 2016.

In 2003, the talented singer began following into her famous dad’s footsteps as she released her debut album ‘To Whom It May Concern’, which would end up reaching No.5 in the Billboard charts. She has since released another two albums and numerous singles.
