He sang the song, "Whenever You Come Around" by Vince Gill. The cover was natural, breathtaking, and almost a soothing song to listen to. His voice so crisp with its natural Country sound, all the judges spoke highly of his audition and how well he performed under such enormous pressure.

Standing at a tall 6 ft and 4 inches, he nervously performed and exclaimed that he didn't sing in public much because of a lack of confidence. Delivering such a flawless rendition, it was clear to the judges that he had something special and that it was time to share it with the rest of the world.

Katy Perry so bluntly shocked at the start of his song, it was clear that they loved him from the get-go. Even Luke Bryan found himself trying to harmonize with the auditioner mid-song, and they had a strong feeling this new singer had something to offer that no one else has brought before.

Tyler eventually received a unanimous decision to head straight to Hollywood right out of that audition. Katy Perry so graciously gave him his golden ticket. American Idol is well on their way to seeing Tyler Mitchell grow and achieve so much in his career on the show. Who knows what's going to happen next for this local oilfield worker.
