Halle Berry is one of the most accomplished actresses in Hollywood. She started as a model and beauty queen in the Miss USA pageant before transitioning into acting in 1992. She got her major break as an actress in the 1992 romantic comedy, “Boomerang,” and has since paved the way for many Black actresses to prosper in film and television.

Berry won the prestigious Academy Award in 2002 for Best Actress for her outstanding portrayal of a struggling widow in the drama film “Monster's Ball.” She made strides in the film and entertainment industry by becoming the first and, so far, only Black woman who has won the award. She also received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for the television film “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge” in 1999. Unsurprisingly, such recognition has made Berry one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.

However, despite Berry’s accomplishments, there is one thing she considers more important to her, and that is being a great mom. Berry has two children she constantly gushes about, although she keeps them out of the public eye as much as possible.

On May 9, 2021, the actress shared a photo of her holding up a picture of herself looking very pregnant and walking by the beach. She captioned it: “I’ll never get over the wondrous miracle of growing a life inside my body as I’ve never felt more myself than when i was carrying my two children. Motherhood is a real privilege. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers of the world! 💞.”

She also shared another photo to celebrate Mother’s Day on May 14, 2023, in which she held her children, Nahla Ariela Aubry and Maceo-Robert Martinez, as they walked in a single file along the beach.

Berry is quite effusive in expressing her love for her kids and doesn't hold back. For this reason, she and her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, fought in court over their daughter, Nahla.

Berry met Gabriel when she had given up hope of finding love after two divorces. The two met while she was shooting a Versace ad and hit it off. Berry got pregnant for the first time at 41 and disclosed during an appearance on Oprah’s show that she and Gabriel had been trying for a baby for some time.

“I'm sort of superstitious, so I saved all of the negative tests in a drawer,” she revealed. “Don't ask! I don't know why, but I did. ... After about 35 tests, we finally got a positive test.”

Berry had her first child, Nahla, in 2008, but in 2010, she and Gabriel ended their relationship, after which a nasty custody battle ensued. Berry ended up having to pay $16,000 to Gabriel for child support every month, but she fought to make it $4000 so that Gabriel would work. In 2021, she revealed via Instagram that she wasn’t happy about paying child support and decried outdated rules that made it possible for people to not work and live off their exes.

The duo also had another match in court when Berry tried to move Nahla to France with her. She claimed that two men stalking her were free, and she was afraid for her safety. However, the judge denied her request, saying it would affect Gabriel’s visitation rights to their daughter. A source told E! News

“If the court finds it is a detriment to the child — meaning that it would interfere with the relationship with the father … then the judge wouldn't grant (permission).”

The exes had one more legal row over their daughter’s hair in 2014. Berry noticed that Nahla’s hair was lighter and straight, but when she confronted Gabriel about chemically manipulating their daughter’s hair, he denied it.

Gabriel is French-Canadian, which means that Nahla is biracial, and Berry didn’t want her to think that her natural self wasn’t good enough. Berry herself has a white mom and an African-American dad.

Berry had a forensic test done, which showed that her suspicions were correct and Nahla’s hair had suffered “extensive damage ... likely the cumulative effect of repeated exposure to numerous gentle bleaching treatments." Justifiably, she was angry about the treated hair and claimed Gabriel was trying to make Nahla less African-American, especially since Gabriel had said racist things to her previously. A judge then ruled that neither parent should manipulate Nahla’s hair thenceforth.

Since then, Nahla has grown healthy, curly hair, and Berry showed it off in a 2018 post. “My Little Queen Crowned In Her Curls,” the mom of two captioned the Instagram photo

Meanwhile, the incident has not affected Gabriel and Nahla’s relationship, as he often shares pictures of them. To celebrate Father’s Day in 2021, he posted an Instagram photo that showed him carrying his daughter and looking into her eyes.

“♥️ Papa Et Sa Petite Fille ♥️ Happy Father’s Day,” he captioned the post.

A picture of them sleeping with Nahla’s arms locked around his neck also made it to his feed in 2019.

Nahla has grown up fast, and Berry took to Facebook on March 16, 2023, to celebrate her 15th birthday.

“One Of The Greatest Gifts The Universe Has Given Me Is My Daughter, Nahla,” Berry wrote. “She Is The Sun That Never Fades And The Moon That Never Wanes! Please Join Me In Wishing Her A Happy 15th Birthday Today! I Love You Sweet Angel.”
