Halle Berry Targeted By Man Trying To Steal Her Home

Anyone would be in for quite a surprise to come home and discover a stranger has changed your locks and moved into your home. Although it sounds like an uncommon scenario, that is exactly what happened to award-winning actress Halle Berry back in March.

Law enforcement told TMZ “59-year-old Ronald Eugene Griffin first showed up at an L.A. property owned by the actress in January and allegedly fiddled with the locks, but took off when he was approached by Halle's gardener.” But that didn’t stop Griffin from trying to get in.

A few months later in March, Griffin tried to fidget with locks again but this time he brought a locksmith and a deed to the house.

The police received a call from workers at Berry’s home who said Griffin had trespassed and was claiming he was the new owner of the property while having the locksmith change the locks to the house.

Griffin, however, was bold enough to point the finger at Berry’s employees when he called the cops to say there were the ones who were trespassing on his property as he was the new owner of the home and had the deed to confirm it

According to TMZ’s law enforcement sources “when police arrived Griffin maintained he was the owner of the house, but LAPD detectives quickly determined Griffin had fraudulently changed the title of the residence.”

Griffin had already managed to have one of the locks changed. He was arrested and charged with a felony count of procuring and offering a false warranty deed and an additional count of petty theft.

“Halle told the detectives she had no idea who he was ... and definitely didn't give him permission to be at her home,” TMZ reported.
