Gwen Stefani Opens Up About Blake Shelton Helping Her Heal After Her 2016 Divorce

Gwen Stefani revealed how her husband and country singer, Blake Shelton has helped her heal since her very public divorce. Stefani and Shelton met and began dating while they were on set for “The Voice,” however the road to happiness wasn’t an easy one.

In 2015, after Stefani broke up with her husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale, she found herself falling for country music star Blake Shelton. Shelton had also just gone through a divorce with Miranda Lambert, another country music singer. After becoming friends the relationship soon turned romantic and they have been together ever since.

"I feel as if I spent the last four years healing—you know, trying to build my life again. Having a best friend like Blake to help me do that has been one of the greatest gifts," Stefani said to Shape magazine. The singer also said how Blake is a “feeder” that he always buys Stefani candy to eat.

The opposites-attract couple likes to spend time on Blakes ranch to help keep the balance to their busy work schedules. “I’m an unusual product of an ordinary California family,” Stefani said. “My parents met in high school, my mom never worked, and we went to church on Sundays. Now I get to travel the world. And spending time in the middle of America [on Blake’s ranch] — that’s something I didn’t expect. The way we live at the ranch is really simple. There are watermelons that Blake planted and all my wildflowers. It’s a nice contrast to L.A., although I do keep 20 chickens in the backyard here at home too.”

Blake told People in 2019 that it was shocking he and Stefani had already been dating for 4 years. “It’s kind of a blur,” he said. “It still feels like it’s pretty new to me. I guess it is, relatively. Four years isn’t forever, but man, it seems like it just happened in no time.” The pair have been married since 2021.
