Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Got Hitched: Couple Tie The Knot At Country Star's Oklahoma Ranch After Six Years Together

Jul 05, 2021 by apost team

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been a music power couple for six years now. Their relationship is incredibly sweet, as they've had a very high profile romance ever since the two coaches from "The Voice" got together in 2015. They often praise each other on social media and declare their love for each other. But questions about whether the couple would ever get married had been a hot topic for years now.

That all changed when the happy couple announced their engagement in Oct. 2020, with both of them sharing the good news on their respective Instagram accounts. Gwen shared the news first by posting a photo of the two of them kissing as she holds up her hand, flashing the gorgeous ring on her finger. She captioned the photo, "yes please!" Shelton posted the same photo on his Instagram with the caption: "Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020... And the rest of my life... I love you. I heard a YES!"

Shelton reportedly approached Gwen's father, Dennis Stefani, for his daughter's hand in marriage before asking her to marry him, according to a source who spoke with Us Weekly. The source added that it meant a lot to Gwen that Shelton was so traditional about the proposal. Additionally, People reports that Shelton also asked Gwen's sons for their permission before popping the question.

Well the time has finally arrived — the couple are finally married! As reported by Page Six, the couple appears to have gotten married on Saturday July 3 in a chapel on Shelton's ranch. The country singer is said to have built the chapel himself with some help, specifically for the purpose of marrying Gwen there.

For pop star Gwen Stefani and country singer Blake Shelton, marriage has been a prevalent topic for some time now. The couple famously got together while they were both coaches on "The Voice" at the end of 2015 before going public in November of that year. They were both going through divorces in 2015 and it's believed that is what brought them closer together.

Since then, the couple has been a favorite of the press and they've talked openly about getting married, but stated that there's no rush. They even appeared to put their plans on the backburner when the pandemic began. But all that changed after their engagement announcement in Oct. 2020. And now, it appears that their wedding has finally arrived.

Taking place at Shelton's ranch in Oklahoma, Page Six revealed aerial photos that show the chapel — which Shelton built on his property specifically for marrying Gwen — decorated with white flowers, while a large white tent and smaller umbrellas surround the location. The setting certainly looks wedding-ready from the photos. Additionally, Gwen's parents, Dennis Stefani and Patti Flynn were photographed heading to the wedding as they got into a luxury people carrier.

The chapel holds a special meaning for the couple, as Shelton built it with "input" from Gwen, reports Us Weekly. A source told the publication in Dec. 2020:

"Blake built a chapel on the grounds of his Oklahoma ranch. He did it himself with help ... It's really a tribute to their love. They are going to get married in the chapel, most likely early next year."

Furthermore, TMZ reports that the lovebirds filed for an Oklahoma marriage license last Thursday, and it's only valid for 10 days.

Although their nuptials occurred over the Fourth of July weekend, it's thought that the couple opted for a small, intimate affair rather than a big bash, owing to the pandemic. But that doesn't mean they didn't go all out in planning their big day. While speaking with USA Today in May, Shelton joked that if he were responsible for planning their nuptials it'd be a "pretty classless wedding," which is why Gwen was taking charge. He told the news outlet:

"I want her to do all of that stuff and handle it because it's going to be great. She's in the middle of planning the thing, and she's always so mindful … of me.

"She's like, 'Hey, I don't want to just take this thing over.' I think she's having a blast doing it. I mean, I know she's having a blast doing it."

It seemed that summer was the perfect time for the couple to tie the knot as Shelton expressed his worries to Hoda Kotb in a Today interview that if they wait until the end of the year, he'd be back into filming a new cycle for "The Voice" and that he "really want[s] to be able to have plenty of time before and after."

He also joked that they'd had offers from celebrities like Miley Cyrus and fellow "The Voice" alumni Adam Levine to perform at their wedding, stating, "It's starting to sound like a Coachella lineup here all of a sudden." But Shelton was quick to add that while he'd love an "amazing concert wedding," he and Gwen were waiting to see how the summer would pan out with regard to pandemic restrictions.

Congratulations to the happy couple and best wishes for their new married chapter!
