In 2018, popular pianist Terry Miles from England performed his own unique rendition of Amazing Grace for the public.

While we often enjoy art and performances that are very carefully planned out and practiced, it is often the performances that happen spontaneously that are really the best of all.

We often come across a public piano that seems to be abandoned. However, these pianos are generally placed in order to allow people to try them out. Anyone can sit down and try their hand at the keys.

Public pianos usually bring out a few types of people. The first are the ones who really don’t know what they are doing. They may be able to tap out a simple little tune on the keys, or they may just make a huge, annoying noise. However, it is the other type of piano player that we all enjoy greatly. In this case, it was Terry Miles, who knows what he is doing on this magnificent instrument.

Terry is not an amateur when it comes to the piano. He is a piano teacher and a musician who instructs his students via computer with video lessons on YouTube or DVD. The style, known as the “boogie-woogie,” is his preferred method of piano, which dates all the way back to the 1870s. It became popular again during the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s

This style is so specific and upbeat that most people cannot help but dance along to it. Terry was eager to show off his amazing boogie-woogie skills to those around him!

He began with a slower tempo boogie-woogie style that not everyone picked up at first. As he added flourishes with his fast fingers during the song, onlookers realized that he was playing a gorgeous rendition of Amazing Grace.

About two minutes in, Terry starts to add even more of this iconic style to the recognizable melody. He starts to layer notes upon notes into the piece, making a somewhat somber song into more of a celebration.

A man in the crowd came prepared with a selfi-stick that was able to capture the whole performance. By the time Terry kicked back on his stool to really show off his skills, more than a dozen spectators have gathered to enjoy his song. When the song came to an end, Terry enjoyed a round of amazed applause and a ton of handshakes.
