Guy Fieri didn't always have the "fiery" last name that he now goes by. According to People's special edition of Food Network stars, he was born Guy Ferry. Later on he changed it for a very touching reason – he wanted to honor his great-grandfather who immigrated from Italy to the US. The special edition also reveals to us that Fieri was born in Ferndale, California to a couple of hippie parents who ate macrobiotic meals.

He has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, and Matthew McConaughey spoke at the ceremony

The TV personality garnered a star on the Hollywood walk of fame outside of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in May 2019, according to their official website. Matthew McConaughey was a surprising guest speaker at the ceremony, but the two have known each other for years. McConaughey told the story in his speech about how he called up the host of his favorite show, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," to ask for good restaurants recommendation for his road trip across America. They stayed friends, and that was 15 years ago.

His first experience in the food industry was a pretzel cart

Guy's interest in gastronomy started young. At ten years old, he became enamored with soft pretzels that he bought with his allowance at a cart in Tahoe, he told the Sporkful podcast. When he got back home to Ferndale, he and his dad built their own pretzel card and he started selling them at local events, reports Eater. The income from the little business then enabled him to study in France as he grew older.

He won't eat these two foods

Although he travels coast to coast for his TV show, there are still a couple of foods that Fieri won't fathom eating. One is a typical diner staple while the other is a little less common: Eggs and liver.

“Liver is nasty,” Fieri said to People magazine. Of eggs, he says, “I eat them in dressings but sunny-side up, over-easy or scrambled? No, thank you.”

He once officiated 101 same-sex weddings at the same time

In June 2015, the supreme court made it legal for same-sex couples to wed nationally. According to The Hollywood Reporter, celebrity chef Art Smith decided to celebrate by hosting an event where 101 couples could get married at the same time at the James Royal Palm Hotel. It just happened to be the South Beach Wine & Food Festival that same weekend, so all the big names were in town. Fieri was there too and officiated the giant mass ceremony.
